Acrylic painting - exercise

Working on my major project, I decided to create 2 pieces in style similar to Basuiat's. In creating these works, I was inspired by the most popular of his works and implemented them into mine. Also, I wanted to mix media, so I used charcoal and sepia pastels to create symbols as he did.

These works helped me to understand a couple of differences between our works and gave me a solution to improve it. I better understand his style, and I'm able to implement some of the features into my work. In the final piece, I will use charcoal and sepia pastels as well. Although I haven't decided about the symbol which will be placed in my work.

  1. What are the titles of these works? Where are the sources? If I find an artists work I like, I want to know everything about the works they make. Basquiat's titles were really important to the work he made, giving the viewer more background to what the work was about or the message. I just googled some of his work - some of his titles are as follows: 'Riding With Death' 'Fallen Angel' 'Warrior' 'God, Law'. These are really evocative titles and make one think differently about the work they are looking at. You say you are interested in Basquiat's work. A post like this isn't showing that.
