Sketches 3D

Image
Creating the outcome for my mini-project, I sketched a couple of ideas for 3D outcomes for my major project. I have tried to improve my previous sculptures, carefully planning their visual look of them given the measurement of the clay busts.  Creating the sculptures, I mostly focused on the long neck one as the construction might be quite difficult to make, and it might fall, wasting material and time spent on this sculpture. Planning the sculpture, I decided to make a wild shoulder to make the construction more stable.

3D outcome - mini project

Image
The post presents the outcomes of my mini-project. In this project, I have worked on the characters' raw aesthetic and unusual shapes. The important aspect of this project was creating creepy or disturbing creatures that would suit the main project.  Creating the project, I started making the head as first as it could help me easier work with the material and sculpt facial expressions. When the heads were ready, I started making the base for both of my clay busts. To create the base for them, I used a thick wire, twisting it several times to make it more stable and prevent the head of one of them will fall. When the wires were ready, I started placing clay on them and sculpting the texture, and fixing the head as one of them got damaged. Creating the texture, I changed the concept a little, and by using a tool, I created some wrinkles on the long neck clay bust and created deeper eye sockets for both.  The final outcome of this project will be included on my website as a resul...

Sketches - mini project

Image
This post presents sketches of my mini project supporting 3D outcomes for the major project for Art portfolio. The main inspiration for this sculpture was Alberto Giacometti, which created the sculptures in disproportional shapes and raw textures. The main idea of this mini-project is creating a 2 sculptures in Giacometti's style and test new techniques, the same as improving the currently known ones.  Planning the sculptures, I decided to create 2 clay busts in disproportional bodies. One of them would have a long neck and disproportionally large head compared to the rest of its body. However, the second one will have a massive chaw and hump on its back.

Alberto Giacometti - Artist Research

Image
Alberto Giacometti was an artist from Switzerland known for his sculptures created in a unique style. He was also known for creating many clay busts that became famous and iconic. Giacometti's work often shows the subjects in unregular shapes and positions, with twisted bodies, which gives the sculptures a dynamic and sense of movement. We can find many paintings and sketches of his artwork, although he became famous mostly for his sculptures. The works of Giacometti present the essence of creating rough textures and unfinished surfaces. Giacometti used many different mediums, such as clay or brass, as it allowed him to work quickly. His clay busts were very expressive, and his technique was unique and innovative. Giacometti's clay busts were characterised by their expressive qualities and exploration of human emotions. Giacometti's interest in surrealist forms and themes such as sexuality and traumas. He also worked with painting and drawing and designed decorative object...

The progress of my 2D outcomes 2

Image
This post presents the current progress of my other 2 2D outcomes for Art Portfolio.  Repainting this work, I struggle with the sketch mostly. Every time trying to make a good sketch, the legs of the character were disproportionate to the rest of the body, so I blurred them a bit. Also, i struggled with my hands, so I changed them as none of my 2D outcomes is not finished yet. In the next steps, I would like to use more dark tones and create a contrast between the clothes and the background. At the end of the process of creating this piece, I would like to use sandpaper to make my work more dynamic and similar to Screaming Pope. Creating this work, I decided to paint it in a different style than the other paintings as it presents more objects, and it might be time-consuming to create this piece the same as the others. This work has been created by using knives mostly. In the next steps, I will use brushes to make more details, such as facial features and shadows.

2D outcome - exercises

Image
The presented works are my exercises for my major project, which helped me to improve my work and decide on the style of the outcomes.  Creating this piece, I used watercolours as I had left all of my tools at university. I have tested many techniques and thought about the composition of my work. Also, I have used a sepia pastel to check the best use of them in my outcome, although at this time, charcoal seemed a better option. I used a high amount of paint to receive a deep tone of black and richer tones colours as it has been placed on the art board.   Creating this piece, I was mostly inspired by Francis Bacon. I used some of the techniques that he used in his works, and I have tried to create a work based on the techniques and style presented in Screaming Pope.  Thinking about the project, I have changed the idea and improved my work by adding unusual shapes and changing the original works. In this exercise, I have tried to make a work where Stanczyk's head becom...

The progress of my 2D outcomes

Image
During the past week, I have worked on my 2D outcomes. Until this day, I have started 2 of 4 paintings. However, non of my paintings have been done yet. This post presents my progress during the week and the relation between my works and the other artists.  As a first painting, I started creating the Indian summer of Lukasz Porebski, presenting a woman lying on the field. As the main concept of my project is re-creating the artwork of well-known Polish artists in more expressionistic and disturbing presents, I decided to slightly change the colour palette and improve my work using the style used in Napoleons painting made by Jake Wood Evans, where the character of previously mentioned Napoleon is very blurred. The same style I used blurs my character's right arm and head. Creating the effect of pulling the persona into the background. During the work, I decided to include more details in the painting as it seemed unclear, and I could find it difficult to recognise the main ob...

Artist Research - Jake Wood Evans

Image
British artist Jake Wood Evans specialises in re-creating the works of famous painters. Human figures and highly expressionistic and abstract elements can be found in his works. The art of Wood-Evans continues to have a complex and close relationship with European art history. The artists from the Golden Age of British painting, including Sir Joshua Reynolds, Thomas Gainsborough, Sir Henry Raeburn, and others, had a significant impact on Wood Evans. Scrubbing, scratching, and erasing certain areas while building up others are defining techniques for Wood-Evans paintings. On canvas, saturated oil contrasts with thick layers of paint, frequently exposing the grain. His loose and instinctive use of paint results in a powerful use of light.  Study for The Triumph of Pan 2, after Poussin , 2019 The 2019 painting is a study for Poussin's The Triumph of Pan 2. It displays a copy of a Leon Kossoff painting. In the original artwork, a number of human bodies are seen combining with other ele...
