Major Project Plan

My final project will present sleep paralysis in expression. The main concept of my work is to present the dark characters around the sleeping person doing different activities based on people's relations that have already experienced it. Besides the artists operating the techniques and styles that might fit my works, I will also do the research about sleep paralysis to present my work to the main idea.  After consulting and compromising the project with my tutor, we figured out that the good idea is to paint 3 paintings with ink and the other 3 with acrylic paints. I will use a large amount of A4 watercolour sheets to create the ink drawings and place them randomly on the floor. When I finish the drawing, I will separate them into 3 pieces. As it may consume a lot of time, I can focus on the main elements of my work, such as bodies or facial expressions. To save time for paintings. Although the paintings will be done on A2 canvases with acrylic paints. As I need to improve m...

First thoughts about major project

Image
Which theme are you most drawn to and why? How do you think you can apply this theme to work  in your own subject area? What pops into your head first when considering this  project? Does it make you think of any particular artists  and/or designers? Seeing the three themes in the presentation, I decided to choose expressionism. Although the presented artworks made me consider Earthly delights as well.  Earthly delights seem easier in planning, although finalising the project might be more complicated than expressionism based on my ideas.  Considering this project, I decided to create paintings including many details and human bodies by using colours in dark tones. I haven't made the final decision about the theme of my project, but I'm considering sleep paralysis, lucid dreams or fear of crowds. In this project, I will be inspired by Salvador Dali, Harry Simmonds and Zdzislaw Beksinski.  Untitled, oil on fibreboard The Elephants (1948) Oil on canvas Head o...

Welcome post - art portfolio

Welcome to my blog first time in the second term. Through the last months, I decided to change my progression and rebrand my website and blog from an Interior design portfolio to Fine art. On holiday I have focused mainly on creating dark art by using acrylic paintings and working with new materials I have never worked with, such as leather. During the holiday, my inspiration and the reason for getting interested in these aspects of art were my favourite serials, movies and music, which taste changed over the past month a little.

Recreating an artwork

Image
In the first class of the second term, with Joanna, we decided to recreate the painting named "Whistlers mother", painted by John MacNeil Whistler in 1871.  The artist’s model was Anna McNeill Whistler, mother of the artist- James Abbott McNeill Whistler. The painting of his mother was his most famous work.  The artist did not want to draw a portrait of his mother. He described his painting: as "A scheme in grey and black." The artist wanted his painting to be perceived as a set of colours.  The artist believes that a painting should contain more than just a face. The portrait is not important to him, but the rest of the model's body. At the beginning of the process of recreating the painting, we collected essential accessories such as black clothes, a painting, a window cover and a headband. We found the place for a session in the studio and started preparing the area to take photos.  We pined up a light brown piece of clothes as we couldn't find in a simi...

Reflections

Image
Reflection on my major project Personally, I'm satisfied with the final project. There are a couple aspects of this project that may be improved during the following interior design project, but the entire process of creating the design made me realise that interior design is not a progression for me, and it helped me to make the decision to change it. In this project, the concept of clients opened my eyes, and I have noticed it's not as exciting as creating the work for myself with a free hand. I'm worrying continuing this progression may cause quick professional burnout for me, so I'm glad I could try myself in this kind of project before I will start the first year.

Draft of major project

Image
This post presents the draft of my major project.  During the process, I found good perspectives to present my work. It may be slightly different in the final project as it's a draft. When I decide about the frames of my work, I will render it, and the final outcome will be available to see on the website in the portfolio section. Example of rendered photo To clarify the entire concept, I will use Adobe Photoshop to create a couple informative panels placed in a different section about the photo gallery in the portfolio section. Informing the viewers, for example, about measurements, materials or clients' requests. Example of one of the panels About photo galleries with informative panels and the design, I will place the concept panel explaining the main concept of this project. "Warehouse conversion or Loft conversion is the renovation of warehouses or historical buildings on functional properties. The first loft design was created in 60s New york. Many loft apartments ha...

Creation process of major project

Image
This post shows the creation process of my major project. The most important aspect of creating this project was the location and floor plan. I had to find the perfect places that would suit the standards of the clients and the general concept of my work. When I finally found it, I could start creating a floor plan. When it was done, I created a raw 3D model of an interior. Firstly, I placed the fundaments for the work such as floors, walls and a place for the mezzanine. The key to this work was to find a place with a high ceiling with a small measurement of the living area. When, the base for the project was done, I could start the next step. The next step of this project was windows. The apartment is placed in a historic building with massive windows. I got the issue that had to be solved. As I had no assets for this type of window and no time to create the new one, I figured that I could use a balcony door. I have changed their size and stuck each other to imitate the windows....
